Earn a High School Diploma and a Career Certificate for Free in Just 18 Months!

The Los Angeles Public Library has partnered with Gale/Cengage to offer grants so adult learners can obtain a free high school diploma and career certificate with Career Online High School.

Join over 90 Angelenos who have graduated using this innovative curriculum that offers the convenience of an anytime-anywhere online learning platform, and interactive, engaging content that can help you achieve your educational goals. This opportunity is for:

Students who value flexibility – courses are 100% online and always available
Students who can benefit from skills-based, career-focused curriculum
Students who like personalized support from an academic coach
Adults 19 or older who live in or work for the City of Los Angeles

To get started, answer a few online questions to see if the program is right for you. You do not need to be a U.S. Citizen or provide transcripts to get started. After completing the self-assessment you can register for a pre-requisite course.

How to support the Library

You can support the Los Angeles Public Library in several ways:

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Friends groups raise money for improvements to their library through memberships, used book sales and other activities. For more information click here or talk to your local librarian.

Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
