A writer friend once said, “They say that when you move to Paris, you’ve become serious about writing.” I might say something similar about Las Vegas – “When you move to Las Vegas, you’ve become serious about music.” After all, it is the “Entertainment Capital of the World.”
When we moved to Las Vegas, I went on a job interview for a technical writing position and they asked me to sing in the interview – lol!
I took voice lessons with a Broadway performer from “Mamma Mia!” and I practiced my vocals on daily walk breaks while working at IGT.
Hubby bought me a keyboard for Christmas one year, and one of the most exciting experiences was entering the music store to pick out some music – I hadn’t done that since I’d sung in high school.
Music has always been my first love and it seems that the characters in my novels also share this yearning to sing. Isn’t that the beauty of fiction? We can experience so much more through characters.
Please allow me to introduce you to “Real Women Sing the Blues.”

Millie chases after Robin and Monterey Jack chases after Millie. Cyn joins Robin and Millie on the cruise when her “Cary Grant” gets too serious too fast. And Sandy runs to Cyn for motherly comfort when her shipboard romance blows up.
Four women, four islands, and a seven-night cruise to Paradise. Was it all a cruise ship fantasy or will life after Hawaii include singing the Blues?
