Going through old sketches

I found this amongst some old pencil sketches. I quite like the characters :)
It was originally for a book idea about adoption.

Clearing out the old to make space for new ideas

I've been clearing out folders of old work which have been cluttering my studio space for too many years. It is not a nice task... revisiting old projects is kind of cringey.
I've kept some of the pencil sketches, destroyed the embarrassingly bad stuff that will never be of use again ( a good feeling ) and discovered a few images that made me smile.

Importantly, I have recycled the paper, and created shelf space!

There is still much work to do before I have an uncluttered and orderly workspace, but until I am back at my cleared desk, here is a little image I happened across.
It was a preliminary sketch idea for a book I illustrated back in the early 90's.
