A Decade Of Partnership

Posted on June 21, 2017 by JJune 21, 2017

It had to happen. My ten year old laptop finally breathed its last. After non usage for many months, I finally powered it on and did some updates. When I needed to restart to activate the updates it just turned black and that was it. So the search for a new toy ensued. And now that I have a new toy, which by the way is really really good, I have to look for the much sought after accessories.

Its been ages that I have not paid attention to the newfangled things as far as gadgets are concerned. I thrive on the old things, you know, I hate to have to acquaint myself and learn to use new gadgets and or toys. But someone told me to search the
blue headphones, check it out at MusiciansFriend.com. And guess what, I liked what I saw. Now I have to make sure that it will be compatible with my new laptop. Imagine having studio quality audio with this headphone. It must be awesome!

Thai Food At Sri Pra Phai

Posted on April 8, 2017 by JApril 8, 2017

Before you think my husband and I downed all the food pics you’ll see below, I better make it clear that these food was meant for four, not two. Not too long ago, we once again dined at Sri Pra Phai, the Thai restaurant in Long Island. Not to get mixed up, I have to mention too that they have the main resto in Queens.

We’ve been dining here for quite sometime, frequent enough for the servers to already know us. We love Thai food and we always have that craving for it. On weekends however, be prepared to wait because it is always crowded. They have already earned a good reputation that regulars really keep coming back for more, us included.

It was another night of gastronomic feast. Needless to say, we all left the restaurant satisfied and with bellies full.

Perfect For The Metal Player

Posted on April 8, 2017 by JApril 8, 2017

Have you seen that schecter hellraiser at guitarcenter.com? Let me tell you, I’m not well versed with the different kinds of guitars so when I came across it, I just had to have a look at it. Sure, it does have a very catchy and interesting name but when you take a look at it it’s even more interesting.

Now, I’m left imagining how it sounds. I’m not into heavy metal and the like, but I sure do know how that genre of music sounds. My husband who is self confessed music lover himself is also not into heavy metal but he sure knows a lot of the different genres. And did I mention he has a vast collection of vinyl and CD’s? Let me not talk about that here. Whenever I think of them I get reminded of the much needed storage and closet space that I would gladly take over if they weren’t there.

I digress, I better leave it at this, and move on.

Applebee’s To The Rescue

Posted on April 8, 2017 by JApril 8, 2017

It’s very seldom that my husband and I dine at chain restos. We do have a few of the chain restos that we routinely visit at most, once every two years and that’s about it. On of those is Applebee’s.

A while back we found ourselves at the nearby Applebee’s not because we really wanted to go, but we were pressed for time and we didn’t want to drive in traffic any longer. When that New York city gargantuan traffic strikes, with growling tummies to boot, you better be ready to get off the nearest exit and find some place to eat.

So who has not been to an Applebee’s restaurant. I highly doubt there’s someone in America who has not been to one. You know the usual fare, and the serving. Needless to say, we enjoyed the dinner.

Till next time!

Back To Our Usual Grind

Posted on March 26, 2017 by JMarch 26, 2017

Wheewww! It’s not easy going back into the normal grind after a week of being away from home. But I have to do what I need to do, so here I am typing away and trying so hard to get back into the swing of things.

What have we been up to lately? Not much. But the vacation in Florida was a good respite away from the hustle and bustle of New York City. We had the time to relax a bit, spent time with friends, saw fabled attractions and of course, what’s a trip without a bit of shopping. I must say that outlet shopping in Florida was not as exciting as the shopping I do here in New York. For some reason, something was missing. I guess, I’m just so used to the brands and the stores that I frequent here. And not to mention that online shopping too has its own thrills especially if the product you’re on the look out for is very specific and targeted. Case in point the mpc 1000, check it out at MusiciansFriend.com.

Slowly but surely, we have to make sure we get back to our normal here at home. Husband is going back to work after two weeks and me, my usual stuff. The vacation was good, but it had to end. So till the next one.

Mar Y Tierra Restaurant

Posted on February 5, 2017 by JFebruary 5, 2017

My husband and I together with family, headed to Island Park in Long Island one Saturday evening and dined at the exquisite and authentic Spanish resto on this side of town. The resto is one of those little and quaint kind comparable to a mom and pop store, but they serve real good Spanish cuisine.

These drinks are called horchata. They are the typical drink from El Salvador made from the jicaro seeds ground with rice and spices such as ground cocoa, cinnamon, sesame seeds, nutmeg, tigernuts and vanilla. Other nuts that may also be used include peanuts, almonds and cashews. Because of these ingredients, the horchata is usually strained before serving. They were delicious but a tad too sweet for me.

Let me tell you, I have been so remiss on updating my blogs that I’m not ashamed to admit that we dined there a year ago. Which is why I can no longer remember the names of the dishes that we ate. The drinks is an exception because they stood out to me and of course, my all time Spanish dish favorite : tamales.

So please bear with me and just be content on looking at the photographs. All I can say is, if you want authentic Spanish cuisine, this place won’t disappoint you.

Exploring And Shopping

Posted on February 3, 2017 by JFebruary 3, 2017

Virginia Beach is one of the places that I would want to visit one day. It’s been an ongoing conversation between me and my husband that we should really try to see all the places we want to see in the East Coast before our eventual move.

Having said that, I can imagine that one of the places we would for sure check out is the guitar center va beach. I’m hoping that whenever we have the chance, I will get the chance to really explore the store so I can also jump start my shopping for my stash of gifts for the holidays for the musically inclined people in my gift list. I have already mastered the art of shopping year round for holiday gifts and so far it has been working for me.

It’s never too early to start shopping for the holidays. Call me crazy but that’s the way it has been for me the past few years.

Dining At Panera Bread For The First Time

Posted on February 3, 2017 by JFebruary 3, 2017

When you’re in a rush and you’re really starving and there’s not much choice available to dine in, you would go for the most decent place in the lot. This happened to us in the winter of last year.

So… it had to happen. This was our first time to dine at Panera Bread. As I’ve mentioned before, my husband is not too keen on dining at chain restos. But this one was an exception. Besides, we had to fill our starving bellies.

So how did Panera Bread fare? Like I said, the food is decent, it served our purpose. Or maybe, just maybe we were also pressed for time to place our order as it was really later at night. Maybe we will try it again in the future.

Deals And More Deals

Posted on February 3, 2017 by JFebruary 3, 2017

Surfing the web is always a given when I have nothing much to do. It’s my way of clearing my mind, and clicking and or tapping brings me to a lot of websites that I would never have known had I not have the time to surf.

Lately, I came across a portal for music lovers and they have such a thing called: musicians friend stupid deal of the hour. That for sure stood out and made me browse even deeper into the site. If only all online portal offers real deep deals then I’m sure everyone will  be enticed all the more to linger and browse.

Indeed this is the computer age. Gadgets abound and everyone seem to be in tune. I’m for sure not an exception so let’s keep browsing!

Pinoy Food In My Mind

Posted on February 3, 2017 by JFebruary 3, 2017

* this is a re-post. I’m badly missing Pinoy food

The mere sight of these dishes makes me drool incessantly. These pics were captured when I brought a friend for the first time to a Pinoy resto so she can try the cuisine.

This weekend, I need to satisfy this craving or else I’ll go insane. These classic Pinoy fare haven’t been devoured by yours truly and I think it’s time to go to the nearest Pinoy resto.

Last weekend, my husband surprised me and brought home some food from the Lumpia Shack (a new Pinoy resto in the West Village). I have to say that the food was delicious but they’re not the authentic Pinoy food. There’s a twist in every dish, so to speak.

I was not that thrilled. Not that I’m being cheap, but I found them overpriced.
