Here's a peek into your daily life at OLX. At least, this is your first 100 days in a nutshell. To give you an idea about how your new working life could look like...
Before you walk through the door of your new office (most probably in a new country), you’ll already know what to expect. This is thanks to a very thorough onboarding process that taught you (almost) everything you need to know. So you’ll feel at ease when you meet your IT team and its leaders on Day 1, where your new colleagues will walk you through our IT structure and tools.
All our engineers work in what we call ‘IT packs’. IT packs are sub-teams, each with its own specific dynamic and working towards distinct objectives. We really love our IT packs, and you’ll notice that there is a large network of them at OLX. You’ll join one almost immediately.
During your first week you’ll spend a couple of days diving into the basics of the classified business. You’ll also spend a few days with our Customer Support Team to learn how our ads are generated, approved and rejected. You’ll also get some hands-on experience answering user emails. There’s a pretty good chance you’ll also spend a few hours with our Sales Team observing how they interact with the professional dealers who are amongst our best advertisers. This will be interesting, because you’ll hear first hand how our clients perceive our product.
For the next few weeks you will be working closely with your IT pack and be mentored by a manager. He or she will guide you through your specific roll and the area of development you’ll be working on. It’s very likely you’ll already be empowered to work with some of our business’s core tools – exciting, maybe also a little bit scary. But fear not, you are part of a pack and individual ownership at OLX is coupled with shared responsibility. Your manager and peers will have your back, with the good and the bad.
Within 90 days of joining OLX you’ll already be adding new features to many of our products. By now you’ll know most of the product team, because you’ll be working directly with them. By the 100th day you’ll be a fully empowered member of our team. Encouraged by your peers, you’ll probably be dreaming up new ways to leave your mark on OLX and the world beyond. And you’ll know that we support you every step of the way!
