Why Complain About The Successful New Look?

ANONYMOUS dripped this comment on Word Press’ new look:

“Why gun control is a success if you tally up all the bureaucrats hired to administer these laws.”

I am making my grumbles into posts, simply one of the first things learned in this life is “Never leave your customers in the lurch.”

While I have an unusual set of problems, millions of WordPress users went to bed satisfied with their blog, even if it is not so different
And got up the next morning looking at something from the other end of the Universe.

Now, I have a peculiar set of problems, starting with near total visual impairment. While we found no way to restore the familiar WordPress functionality, that just means that neither I nor the Computer Science doctorate found one if it is there.

So millions of WordPress users have been forced, willy billy, to redesign their web. So millions of wordpress faithful, many of whom have been on board longer than my 10 years – or 30 years if you add sepeerate website’s uptime with no way at all to get back to hwere they were.

Instead of talking about making WordPress run as millions of users have operated in the past most of those users are non-technical people who have choice but to comply with the new design or forget about it.

Being a lifetime techie I can worry along without the links, the boding, the block quotes, and the other tools I have used for the – did I say ten years?? It has been more than 11. At ;east until the problem is solved.

So why am I griping about something forced on me, and millions of others, without any need or desire on my part????

Because the needs and needs and requirements of the the typical WordPress user do not seem to have been taken into account.

WH Chief Of Staff Leaving By EOY

The media reports President Donald J. Trump has announced White House Chief f Staff Michael Flynn will be leaving his post vacant before 2018 becomes 2019.

This has resulted in a lot of chatter about who the replacement will be, whether they have been vetted, and so on.

We shall see what we shall see. I suspect our best course is to cheer the President’s choice,, and make all the jokes we can think of about the media. Which, after all, has by airing own prejudices regarddless of the presence or absence of facts, has turned itself into a joke and little elsee.

An Interesting Way To Start A Day

Here it is 3:00 AM, turn on monitor, check the state of tropical weather Arctic ice, and tectonic news and I am ready for the first have no place to enter a post. Instead, I have a couple of buttons, marked “Preview” and “Publish.”

Publish what?

I do not know whose brilliant idea this new headache was, but they need to go back to first grade and learn better.

A new post entry scheme might be fine for the 12 year olds but are not satisfactory for a gaffer who will nover see 884 again, and who is virtually blind to boot.

Fear not, I will continue to struggle with it until one of us wins. In the meantime, it appears links, quotes, and similar items will be notable by their scarceness.

Remembering Pearl Haror

77 yeas ago today today, America was stunned by a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, United States Territory.

War is the most expensive undertaking our fallible people ever undertake. Fortunately, Americans are quick to forgive and Japan is one of our best friends.

In memory of all our losses in the war that began 77 years ago today, and both human and property losses in alll he wars since, a reminder to always remember, and never forget the costs of war:

For those to whom the words are a mystery..

In modern American English, the chorus reads

Should old friendships be forgotten and never brought to mind?

For Those who never attended a Robert Burns supper, here are the original words to Ai;d Lang Sune, rather freely translated as “Times Long Gone.”

Lyrics:

Should all acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind,
Should all acquaintance be forgot and the days of auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet for the sake of auld lang syne.

Let’s have a drink or maybe two or maybe three or four
Or five or six or seven or eight or maybe even more.

For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet for the sake of auld lang syne.

When it gets to closing time and if you still want more,
I know a pub in Inverness that never shuts its door.

For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet for the sake of auld lang syne.

Trending: Tax Revolt in France

Hundreds of thousands of French voters are taking to the streets to propose a hike on taxes for the poor – while the “President for the Rich” repeals almost all the weal taxes on wealth.

The French worker pays a higher percentage of their income to tax collectors than workers in any other EU State. The workers think that funding new spending programs while letting the amasssed wealth of the the rich get off scot free is unfair and, particularly when the shortfall is to be made up on fuel taxes in a nation where so many depend on motor vehicles to earn a living.

As the old song says, “It’s the syme the ‘ole world over,” the rich get richer and the poor get the blame. In earnings as well as in by-blows.

Now, looking over the percentage of income paid by the French wage earner I find those rates remarkably similar to the rates proposed by our Socialist political party, which wants to start income taxes at 51% plus a hefty value added tax on every product from pork chops to pants offered at retail.

That value added tax will be similar to compoound interest in that the tax will be added at each step of the retail chain, resulting in true tax rates far in excess of the statutory rate.

Of course, our home grown Socialists have spent the last teen years trying to let the IRS take American’s savings, repaying it starting at 70 with a “generous 1% interest rat, in place of a near universal pension, i.e. Social Secuity.

More Good News On The Trade Wars

The Media, including FIX, reports U.S. President Donald J. Trump asked the Chinese President to put the opiate Fentanyl on their restricted substances list.

Fermenting is reportedly the cause of death in almost 50,000 “opioid overdose deaths” a year, and that number is skyrocketing To make matters worse, the gun banners refuse to recognize that a substantial percentage of opiate overdoses are actually suicides.

I think President Trump was fully justified in asking the Chinese government to crack down on illegal Fennel processing and trafficking.

And the Chinese President’s prompt “Right away” is most gratifying.

RUMOR: Former AG Bob Barr to Be Tapped for Re-Up

,,
FOX News reports that former Attorney General Bob Barr, who served under GHW Bush, will be tapped to replace Jeff Sessions.

As far as I can tell, the only negative in choosing Barr is his role in pushing through the obviously unconstitutional “Gun Free Zone Act of 1990″ and other acts including rumored efforts to advance the Jandgun Control Inc”s Assault Weapons Ban.

At the very least Barr should get the seme intensity of questioning that Justice Bret Kavanaugh received at the hands of Chuky’s minions.

The Word From Anchorage

Watching a newscast from an Anchorage, Alaska TV Station, it seems the aftershocks have not even begun to become less frequent.

A six minute interview with a resident revealed that there had been three aftershocks during the interview, with a fourth due.

The word I get is that Anchorage is built on a very deep clay bed, and this relatively shallow ‘quake is causing relatively short crackks in the clay. The result is a long stream of aftershocks, caused by the clay foundation cracking.

Hopefully, the shaking and cracking that is at the root of the problem will stop soon, and the City and State can get a head start of repairing broken of damaged infrastructure.
