In my town we have a unique family owned organic farm.
It's about 5 acres with a cobblestone home that was built in 1856.
This house is somewhat unique even among cobblestone houses in that the stones were selected from the beach on Lake Michigan some 40 miles away and hauled to the site on ox carts.
♥
They offer a dozen varieties of heirloom tomatoes, along with a complete line of garden vegetables all grown from 100 or more year old seed sources not generally available elsewhere. Also for sale are heirloom roses, peonies, annuals, and perennials.
♥
They have roosters, hens and tons of chicks.
All organic fed so the eggs are extra delicious
plus the roosters and chickens eat the weeds out in the fields.
♥
Rabbits are raised on the farm as well-
Worm bins are under the cages so the bunny waste
can be converted into rich -compost.
It's all so efficient around here...
♥
I'll take some photos of the home next time-
I was just way too busy playing with this little guy

He's a 'fainting goat' and he's about 4 weeks old.
Myotonia is the condition that causes
'fainting goats' to stiffen and/or fall over when startled.
This condition is caused by a combination of recessive genes.
♥
It seems that when they are startled they're muscles
will stiffen and some will fall to the ground. It lasts about
10 - 15 seconds and then they get up again
and go about they're business. We don't startle these
guys- some find it to be cute and funny and well...
I don't. It seems to me that it would be very scary-
They are completely aware of they're surroundings
during the whole 'fainting' thing.
See his little horns starting to come in?
Isn't he cute?
♥
* I'll be working here to earn my 'share' of the veggies and eggs-
I'll be back to post the winner of the
GIVEAWAY next week*
I need to take a break from blogging for awhile......
