ASCO has released its 2017 Clinical Cancer Advances report highlighting the most significant advances in cancer research over the past year.

ASCO released a statement by President Daniel F. Hayes, MD, FASCO, FACP, in response to a report by the World Health Organization and National Cancer Institute that finds smoking and its side effects cost the world's economies more than $1 trillion and kill about 6 million people each year.

The Department of Health and Human Services – along with more than a dozen other federal agencies – have finalized updates to the Common Rule, which protects human subjects in biomedical research, for the first time in nearly three decades.
