Review: Feedback (Newsflesh #4), by Mira Grant
It felt so good to fall back into the world of Mira Grant’s Newsflesh novels, that as I worked through the book, I read faster and faster until the dramatic conclusion. Medical paranoia and zombie based intrigue make for an exciting novel that brings back the excitement of reading the first three books in the series.
Review: Bloody Acquisitions (Fred, The Vampire Accountant #3) by Drew Hayes
BLOODY ACQUISITIONS is easily the best book in the Fred, the Vampire Accountant series. Drew Hayes’ writing has improved a lot since THE UTTERLY UNINTERESTING AND UNADVENTUROUS TALES OF FRED, THE VAMPIRE ACCOUNTANT. He’s managed to keep all of the amazing things that make the world of Fred, that Vampire Accountant so lovable, while ditching all of the bad parts. This is no longer a collection of novellas, but one story. BLOODY ACQUISITIONS still has an episodic feel to it, but it follows one story line.
Review: The Graces (The Graces #1) by Laure Eve
THE GRACES pulled me in with its intriguing description and lovely cover, but ultimately didn’t deliver. Though the writing was lovely, the plot wasn’t as good as it could have been and the ending was, to me, a complete let down.
Review: Bright Smoke, Cold Fire (Untitled #1) by Rosamund Hodge
Romeo and Juliet has never been my favorite. It’s like teenage angst at its best, something which I’m not generally a fan of. BRIGHT SMOKE, COLD FIRE at least didn’t have nearly as much angst as Romeo and Juliet, but it also wasn’t an amazing story either. Hodge seemed to bite off a little more than she could chew, and the result was a scatterbrained story with zombies, magic, and tons of weird stuff going on.

Review: Crimson Death (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #25)
Process nerds will find much to love and hate in the latest Anita Blake installment. While readers may tune in to solve a crime spree, that promised police procedure never materializes. Rather, CRIMSON DEATH offers an unexpected love song to therapy, to the rewards of the hard work required to maintain relationships both romantic and otherwise. For the first time in a long, long time, it is the relationship side of Anita’s story that offers progress and hope.
