MONSTRESS is a dark, dark breed of fantasy, where the magic and monsters in the world are more likely to prey upon children’s bones than protect them. Wade into the horror and cruelty, plunge into this war, and even the hope hidden within carries betrayal and sadness.

Review: For the Bear’s Eyes Only (Grizzlies Gone Wild #3) by Kathy Lyons
FOR THE BEAR’S EYES ONLY was a pretty decent paranormal romance with bear shifters which I feel are becoming the new ‘it’ shifter right now with all of the bear shifter books I’ve seen lately.

Cover Art Coverage: 8 New Titles!
There are some great covers this week, but nothing captures the devil-may-care badassery of the Price family than barefoot trapeeze work with dynamite.

5bat! Review: Tell the Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan
While the best of Urban Fantasy can balance character growth and enthralling world building, sometimes a book puts all its eggs in one basket. TELL THE WIND AND FIRE has a world, and though the politics and geography can be a bit odd, the magic is well developed. None of this matters a whit, however, when compared to how much I loved Lucie.

Release Day Review: Dark Protector (Moon Shifter, #6) by Katie Reus
DARK PROTECTOR does a fabulous job of catching up the Moon Shifter series, while introducing a fresh conflict and interesting characters outside the ranch where most of the characters live. Vampires are missing during a particularly sensitive time in vampire/werewolf relations, and a war between two clans would be bad news for all supernatural creatures. It’s in the best interest of all parties involved to find the missing vamps, which is why Natalia and Aldrick end up working together.

Review: The Mountain of Kept Memory by Rachel Neumeier
I was so excited to read THE MOUNTAIN OF KEPT MEMORY that I barely got past the comparison to Robin McKinley in the description. And while I loved it, I didn’t quite love it, if you know what I mean. I had a few complaints, but overall, this is a beautiful standalone fantasy with intrigue, action and a little bit of sweet romance.

Review: Shadowed Souls edited by Jim Butcher and Kerrie L. Hughes
The collection of stories in SHADOWED SOULS are dark, twisted, and filled with mayhem and magic. Each of the stories had qualities I liked, some more than others.

5bat! Review: Schooled in Magic (Schooled in Magic #1) by Christopher G. Nuttall
SCHOOLED IN MAGIC is a book that’s been on my to-read list for a long time, so I was thrilled when I saw it pop up in my Audible feed and instantly purchased it. SCHOOLED IN MAGIC is everything I’d hoped the Merchant Princes series would turn into combined with Harry Potter but with a real magic system.
