Hello you talented bunch,
We wanted to give you a heads up that Project Borealis, a team working to create Half-Life 2: Episode 3 based on the ‘leaked’ Epistle 3 story, are recruiting - including 3D Hard Surface Artists, Character Riggers and Unreal engine VFX artists!
This is a great opportunity to put your skills into practice in a full-scale development team while working towards an ambitious goal.
You can check out the positions they’re recruiting for in the latest update, but I’ve also put the most relevant role descriptions and requirements below. If you think a role sounds interesting and would like to get involved, go ahead and apply!
Do note that the project is not raising any funds for development and no one is paid to work on it, and as such these positions are unpaid but offer a great chance to improve your CV and show off your portfolio.
As a Hard Surface Artist, you’ll be responsible for bringing the world of Project Borealis alive through the clever use of vehicles, props, and environmental set pieces. Beyond creating well-thought out and functional models, the ideal candidate is also an expert at texturing; creating the perfect blend of detailed textures with believable weathering.
Unreal Engine VFX/Particle artist
As an Unreal Engine VFX/Particle artist, you’ll be creating and implementing effects and particle systems, working hand-in-hand with animators and artists to create a wide range of effects; from bright muzzle flashes and rich blood splatters, to violent explosions and bone chilling blizzards.
As a Character Rigger, you’ll be tasked with working with animators and 3D artists to develop, rig, and sometimes animate organic and mechanical characters. Additionally, experience with physics systems and procedural animation are not required, but are a big plus.

Hey friends, I'm a musician and I'm looking to commission a simulated visual for a song I am planning on releasing. My idea is a fairly realisticly modeled heart that Is covered in ice. Throughout the visual the ice would slowly melt revealing the heart underneath. Not looking for it to be too elaborate. If you are interested in collaborating, feel free to shoot me a message. Thanks!
