This week we're just going over the news, because there was a lot of it. Microsoft's nearing the peak of their comeback, AT&T's taking over Time Warner, Nintendo's taking their last shot at a console that does it all, and Apple plans to prove they still care about media professionals next week. (And more, of course!)

Links for this episode:

Deal valuing Time Warner at more than $80 billion could happen as early as this weekend.

Nintendo dropped a Twitter bomb with the announcement of its much anticipated new console: the Nintendo Switch. Info about the Switch has been leaking out for the better part of a year now, but until today the Switch was referred to publicly as the NX.

Friday morning is prime time for some casual news reading, tweeting, and general Internet browsing, but you may have had some trouble accessing your usual sites and services this morning and throughout the day, from Spotify and Reddit to the New York Times and even good ol’ WIRED.com. For that, you can thank a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) that took down a big chunk of the Internet for most of the Eastern seaboard.

Microsoft Corp.’s stock soared above $60 a share to set an all-time intraday high on Friday after the company blew past earnings expectations and accelerated revenue growth for Azure, its cloud-computing business that competes directly with Amazon Web Services.

Apple sent out media invites for a Mac-centric event that will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Apple's Cupertino campus.

I work at a store at the mall and had left my glasses last night. So I went the next day to pick them up. As I stopped by I picked them up said hi to my coworker and decided to give her a goodbye hug. She wasn't expecting it and didnt hug me back, and I said "haha I'm giving you a hug" and she just stood there perplexed and confused and smiling and not hugging me back. her sweater also shocked me. It was so awkward I wanted to die!

When the largest company in the world changes the date of a quarterly earnings call, there has to be a good reason. It’s not the sort of thing you do on a whim.

Amazon Prime has more hidden benefits than you can remember, and now it’s getting a new one. Prime subscribers now have access to a rotating selection of books that you can read for free.

Netflix Inc. signed a deal with luxury theater-chain iPic Entertainment to simultaneously screen its original movies in theaters the same day that they appear on the streaming service, the latest deal to expand Netflix’s theatrical ambitions.

Let’s cut to the chase: PlayStation VR should be better. At its best, Sony’s new virtual reality headset manages to conjure the astonishing, immersive wonder of modern virtual reality. Just as often it is frustratingly held back by outdated hardware that can’t quite do what’s being asked of it.

Google wants you to start looking at it as a hardware company. Today, it announced new Pixel phones, a smart voice assistant-powered speaker called Google Home, a VR platform and more. Here are the coolest things the company announced today.

A growing number of Verizon subscribers are complaining about a serious issue that causes them to regularly lose LTE connectivity on their iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices, suggesting a major bug that needs to be resolved by either Apple or Verizon.

An FCC vote on a controversial proposal that would de-couple cable subscriptions from cable set-top boxes was today delayed as the Commission aims to work out "remaining technical and legal issues," the FCC said in a statement.
