“The first person to believe in you is you.”
Collete heard a man tell his son, "don't let that girl beat you in the race." And then she did.
People would doubt her ability to be a professional race car driver. "Can she do it?” She did. She started college for engineering at 16 years old, then received a scholarship to a university for entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley where she raised funds to build her business and pursue racing at the top level.
Collete Davis is competitive. It's who she is. This female entrepreneur and athlete uses her Microsoft Surface to optimize race performance, keep her business running, and inspire young girls to explore careers in STEM.
In her own words: "The first person to believe in you is you. You’ve got to be brave." She outengineered the competition and is proving the doubters and naysayers wrong. Her mindset: I will win.
Tenacity, bravery, and the power of the Microsoft Surface are helping Collete Davis breakthrough.

“It’s safer to keep moving than it is to stay still.”
weMove — it isn’t just a magazine title. It’s the belief of the people who make it. It’s an example of how to reject tradition and break your own path.
This journal at the intersection of sport, health, and lifestyle grew from the belief that moving our bodies is at the center of wellbeing.
But movement is more than the subject of weMove — it’s how the magazine is made. There is no weMove office, no nine-to-five, and the publication is created with Surface Book entirely on the go, in the world at large — wherever inspiration strikes.
A photographer uses Surface Book and PhotoShop to retouch images at 8,000 feet. In a Moab café, designers use a Surface Pen and Illustrator to create artwork. Somewhere off an interstate, an editorial is written in Microsoft Word, while InDesign is used to lay out the entire magazine. All on Surface.
The desire to move forward, innovation, and the power of the Surface Book are helping everyone at weMove break through.

“I kept going. And going.”
We see the breakthrough. We see the young girl drawing with her new hand.
What we don’t see are the hours. Sketching. Coding. Viewing in 3D. Repeating. We don’t see the summer job spraying weeds to buy a 3D printer. Or the full-ride scholarship that was turned down to pursue the goal. For Easton LaChappelle that goal was to create an affordable artificial limb that could be easily replicated and customized for anyone in need.
It was a goal born of a science fair project, a child missing a hand, and curiosity. It was fed by a desire to empower and inspire. It was backed up by the courage to forge a unique path and the grit to stick to that path.
Eight iterations of the right hand. Countless versions of the fingers. Never giving up.
His curiosity, determination, and the versatility of the Surface Pro are helping Easton break through.

“It’s not always easy to push through.”
It was a huge leap. She started a business—something of her own that merged identity, passion and art. Succeeding as an entrepreneur is hard. Passion alone isn’t ever enough—there’s marketing, there’s bills to pay, and there are comfort zones to leave behind.
For Kenesha Sneed starting Tactile Matter, a business creating ceramics, was about finding the balance between artist and entrepreneur, between heart and head. Hours spent creating were matched by hours spent planning. She needed to prove to herself that she could do it. That she could beat the odds, and do so in a way that maintained her integrity as an artist.
So she worked. Never stopped. And by mixing art and commerce she has found a place of growth, discovery and a thriving business.
