    I almost never agree with journalists when they describe his genius. Here I think his skilled at dividing is more accurate than "skilled branding." It's easy to brand yourself if you're willing to be hated by half or more of the audience. Doesn't take great skill, but great gall.

    The news system is not designed for this. It's built to start with what the president said and then seek detail, get reaction, check facts. What it should do instead is go to the president last, as the least reliable component in a policy-making machinery.
