English as a Second Language (ESL)
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered to help non–native speakers to communicate in English through the development of skills in listening and observing, speaking, reading, and writing. At the beginning level, emphasis is on improving listening comprehension, vocabulary development, and English structure.
The courses advance to notetaking, composition, oral presentation, and class discussion at the more advanced levels. We serve immigrants and refugees in this program only. Individuals with F, M, B, Student, or J visas are not eligible for Basic & Transitional Studies.
All new students must attend a one credit orientation. New students can start signing up for Winter Quarter classes on, or after, November 25, 2014 in Room 3122. More information will be given at the office. We will have options in the morning and evening. Call 206.934.4180 with questions.
