Time to share a tip or ask for one! Do you have any secrets you like to use to make sewing easier? Any tools that you use that can't be bought at the craft store?

For all things Halloween related: discussion, questions, suggestions/advice, opinions, ideas - all that jazz have a happy home in this thread. We can't wait to see what you all have in mind for costumes, crafts, and anything else you wish to share!

This post has been set to show 'new' first and it would be helpful if you keep that settings so as new comments come in they don't get lost in the shuffle.

Keep in mind this is the first mega-thread this sub has done for Halloween and I have no clue how it's going to go. We may have to adapt as it gets closer to that spooky day. What I do know is that in the past this sub gets flooded with questions. I also know that so far in the past month 345 of the 897 posts have mentioned Halloween in either their title or post body (I did math woo!)

Looking forward to see what awesome things you guys come up with!

My wife has a this sewing machine, and it came with what looks like a PCMCIA card to a USB cord. We are trying to connect it to either a relively new MacBook Pro or a Windows 10 laptop and we are not having any luck. Wondering if anyone knows of anything to try. We have tried Premier + 2 on both laptops with no luck. The windows 10 computer shows the connection but says driver not found.

Hoping that flair means Free Offer.

Anyway i have hundreds of yards of solid color bamboo fabric (Kendor fabrics) that I dont want anymore. I dont mind sending it if you pay shipping... or if you just promise to make me something one day :)

or if u know of a good way to donate it.

Thanks.

I’m totally new to this, but I’ve been lurking this sub for a long time and am so jealous of all your guys’ creations! I am looking to start altering my clothes to save some money but feel like I’m a little in over my head when it comes to getting started.

I’ve been looking at used sewing machines in my area, and I found a Singer 15-91 sewing machine with desk available for $100. It looks good in all the pictures but also, I have no idea what I’m looking for. The seller also has a $75 Singer 99K and Singer 99 available, both listed as 3/4 size. What machine would be most appropriate for what I’m looking for, if any? Anyone have any personal experience with any of these machines?

The other sewing machines I’ve seen in my area were running around $400-600 and I don’t want to put that much money into it if I’m not sure how often I’m going to actually use it yet. Feel free to send any other tips/resources for beginners my way!

Fingers crossed for the cups, because I’m not usually this lucky.

This is my first corset, and it’s made of velour with steel underwriting and spiral boning. That’s probably quite an untraditional first corset now I think of it ...
