One of the suggestions we wanted to implement from the /r/Canada census was to have a photography competition.

The contest will run from the 1st to 5th of every month. The winning image will be posted above the Reddit search bar until the next month's contest ends, with credit given in the sidebar. We will also keep these images for future uses that are such undecided at this time. If for whatever reason you do not want us to retain a copy of the image, we will delete it at your request.

Now, we understand that there are some incredibly rare pepes out there – but that is not the type of photography we are looking for. Here are the rules for submissions.

  1. You must have taken the photograph yourself.
  2. You must have permission to use the photograph you submit.
  3. Photographs only. No MS Paint/Photoshop/etc... creations.
  4. Leave the original photograph as untouched as possible, that is no added text, overlaid images, etc...
  5. Nothing NSFW is allowed.

Good luck to all submissions!

Good afternoon my friends!

Today is the day Ontario votes!

We have created this post to act as a Megathread for what will be a very active evening of posting activity. Please try to contain discussions and new posts about the election in this post.

As of the creation of this post, new posts made regarding the election will be removed.

To everyone in Ontario, don't forget to vote. To everyone else, sorry!

Edit - its over. Ford and the PCPO are projected to win.

Many people were hoping for the first green seat, and they'll be happy to learn the greens are projected to get it. Congratulation, Mike Schreiner!

Received a call today from the CRA saying that they'd opened a lawsuit against me for tax evasion.

Being a francophone, I insisted the agent communicated with me in French. Unfortunately he couldn't speak a word of French.

I insisted he transferred me to a supervisor or another agent who could speak French. He started threatening that I would go to jail if I don't settle with him right now.

I continued insisting to speak to an agent who spoke French reminding him it's my rights as a Canadian to correspond with an agent of the Canadian government in French.

Suddenly he hung up on me. It was pretty obvious why he hung up, NOBODY in the CRA could speak French!

Sad day for one of the official languages of Canada indeed.

I don't have cable, and as far as I know, some of my taxes go to CBC. (Don't worry I don't want to get rid of it, I actually want to watch it!) I guess they can claim needing the 6.95 a month to broadcast it (who pays 7$ a month for one channel?). Just stream it live on YouTube, for free, with ads, and no infrastructure needed.

Canada - the country, people, culture, and yeah, the hockey, snow and all things Canadian. We decided on this description politely.
