Higher speeds mean that drivers have less time to identify and react to what is happening around them, and it takes longer for the vehicle to stop. It removes the driver’s safety margin and turns near misses into crashes.

The most effective way of tackling this abusive practice is by working directly with those affected by FGM to build confidence and trust so that people feel they are able to speak to us about their concerns.

FGM is one of the severest forms of violence against women and girls and we have a duty to protect those who may be at risk by working with statutory partners, support agencies and the communities themselves.

Today is International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM. Girls across the 🌍 continue to be exposed to the practice of FGM. The first conviction for FGM in the UK last week simply highlights there are still barriers that prevent reporting of this horrific form of child abuse.
