1) 25,000 to 30,000 murders a year, not counting the deaths resulting from epidemics, scarcity of medicine and basic food staples 2) More than 3 million refugees 3) Years of hyperinflation and disastrous economic mismanagement...

A person who works for Newsweek just said the Jews are behind Trump. That is all.

You’re correct about the seriousness of Haaretz security and national affairs writers. Then there are the other Haaretz writers, like Rogel Alpher, who border on the pathological

יותר מזה, לאף אחת מהמדינות הללו יש שכנים המאיימים לגרש/להרוג את האוכלוסייה האזרחית שגרה שם.

Reminder that all conspiracy theories ultimately end up blaming the Joos in Elders of Zion-style rabid anti-Semitism

למשל? קשה לדמיין שיש מדינות אחרות שיכולות לצפות ניסיונות השמדה במקרה הזה כמו בארץ

How did the poor Chabadniks end up entering the conspiracy world universe? When did hosting Jewish travellers in far off places for Shabbat or helping out Israelis at loose ends in Katmandu become perverse?

I am not an expert on the Shoah. It is probably a mix of all these factors. I do subscribe to the Hilberg view of stages pursued and viewing actors through categories of perpetrators, victims or bystanders (which is where US, UK and other Western democracies fit in)

There are several historians who believe that 1930s Nazi policies were a trial run for the emigration option. By 1940 Nazis knew that world didn’t care about Jewish persecution so they could do as they pleased in the East. Surely you have read this before?

At risk of sounding like a broken record, JDF is playing at being the Diaspora Haaretz and that is a reckless course to follow

Unsustainable for such a small media market - particularly considering the large number of cable options and now streaming services

Not saying it would have defused all genocidal antisemitism, just this most deadly instance of all. Remember initial Nazi approach was to foster Jewish emigration (1930s) and they moved to Final Solution when most nations essentially blocked this option

Let me get this straight, : Not Harry Truman, who created NATO and ordered the Berlin airlift? Not JFK, who stared down the Russians over Cuba? Not Nixon, who ordered the nuclear alert in 1973? Not Reagan, who named it "the evil empire"? (cont'd)

You are both dealing in counterfactuals. It may very well be that existence of a Jewish state prior to 1933 or 1940 would have defused basis for genocidal antisemitism. What is factual is that Final Solution was developed on basis Jews had nowhere to go

It’s been four years since the murder of Argentinean prosecutor Alberto Nisman, another unsolved crime in a country with a shameful record of protecting its Jewish citizens and where the AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires that killed 85 innocents remains unpunished
