Ironically, the Israeli government ALSO does not want more African Hebrew Israelites moving to Israel, owing to the fact that they aren't recognized as Jews, but the article doesn't mention them so the photo really should be swapped.

I know how frustrating this is. Haaretz used photos of a different Hebrew Israelite community in Israel to illustrate 1 of my articles on the AHIJ (I also sent them photos). Troubling that this seems to happen frequently with people/communities of color. Anyway, nice piece.

Just FYI and , the top photo is of an African Hebrew Israelite girl, not an Ethiopian Jew. They are two completely separate communities of black folks in Israel.
