Of course conservative policy experts have had their own thoughts. But per Weigel, those thoughts are "a pile of wonkiness" trying to break through an issue talked about almost *strictly* in political terms. That incongruity has really hurt Republican lawmakers on this issue.

This is notable. Lawmakers like @USRepLong said: "I have always stated that one of the few good things about Obamacare is that people with pre-existing conditions would be covered." And the only way the GOP really talked about covering them is . . . how Obamacare does it!
