New guidance says schools "must no longer request this information from parents, or retain the data within their system". Stands to reason if there's no legitimate rationale for schools to hold it, there's no reason for Department for Education to hold it

Thanks to campaign, Gov no longer tells schools to collect children's nationality & birth country data - but hasn't deleted info it previously collected. If steps aren't taken by 21 Oct, Liberty & will take legal action

This thread. The stopping of country of birth and nationality data was only the beginning. The work isn’t done until any and all data already collected is deleted. There is no justification for a refusal.

If the secretary of state cannot or will not ensure this, we will ask the Information Commissioner to intervene for these children.

All children & their families should feel that schools are safe havens, places for inclusive education not outposts of hostile immigration control.

We want the DfE to complete the work “to protect BAME and migrant children and families across the country”, not just by getting rid of the nationality & country of birth data already collected, but by stopping all sharing of pupil address & other data with the Home Office.

It’s time to delete this data, to stop sharing confidential pupil information and to repeal the law which allows these questions to be asked in the first place

In April the DfE finally agreed to stop the collection of country of birth & nationality data for pupils. Now we demand they delete any data already requested

A small village in France fought against the deportation of a young Sudanese man from their community. 1 in 4 people signed a letter demanding his regularization, and half the town physically fought the police. And in the end, they won!
