.--There are no magic solutions to gun violence in America. But if we want to tackle gun violence, we can start by discrediting the NRA as an extremist group that has been a boon to the firearms industry & a catastrophe for the American public.

US consulting companies like McKinsey, BCG and Booz Allen have their fingerprints on some of Saudi Arabia's most odious policies: I don't think businesses should cut off ties with Riyadh, but I do think they should have some concern for ethics.

Farm kids like me received special preference. We were beneficiaries of affirmative action in admission. I would have been admitted over a city kid with similar grades and sat's.

President Erdogan of Turkey writes an op-ed: "Saudi Arabia still has many questions to answer about Jamal Khashoggi’s killing." Erdogan notes that King Salman presumably didn't order the murder, without meaning his son MBS (Mr. Bone Saw).

It was Gen Zia who opened this Pandora box of extremism in Pakistan, back in the 2970s. It’s s reminder that leaders who unleash toxicity for political reasons can screw up their countries for decades to come. Eh, President Trump?

This is an outstanding essay about how Pakistan has been perverted by a distorted extremist brand of Islam that relies on blasphemy laws to bully people (but actually has some roots in the Hindu caste system). The question is whether Pakistan's leaders will stand up to it.
