Why are mangroves important? @FOH_Belize restores and replenishes coral reefs in southern Belize n also help mangrove conservation. Many of the marine life start life in the safety of coastal mangrove lagoons before they move out to coral reefs and sea grass forests.

Long term results on changes in coral cover at sub-site 21 at Laughing Bird Caye National Park. Outplanted with < 1000 frags in 2014, the 1st year (2015) saw an 8% increase in coral cover, then came hurricane Earl in 2016 that flattened this site but the following years saw +10% pic.twitter.com/af84lSAYvm

This nursery-grown coral was outplanted in 2011 and has spawned at least twice.
