once a field-tripper to the wrote "Yaddish" on their feedback form and i have never forgotten it since. it looks/sounds so cute to me. "Yaddish." to rhyme with "radish." or "Tiffany Haddish."

This 1735 Hebrew grammar was printed in Boston expressly for the use of Harvard students. One of them (or another reader) seems to have found it less than useful & altered "instruction" to "destruction"

This obscure biblical word comes from Akkadian and probably meant bdellium, a kind of tree resin used in the making of perfumes and incense. Rashi (1040-1105) didn't know this and said it meant crystal. It began to be used in this sense in the 18th century.
