Dr. Francis Gurry further laid emphasis on the significance of GII being held in a developing country for the first time. He claimed it to be demonstration of innovation being a universal power tool and India’s successful endeavors regarding the same.

Dr. Gurry also mentioned India’s good performance in innovation over the past few years and lauded the country’s efforts to create an innovation friendly ecosystem, referring to fields of telecommunications, science & technology, external trade as the country’s strengths.
