Trump’s decision not to apply Magnitsky sanctions to Mohammed bin Salman is not the end of the story. Both Republican and Democrat Senators are livid with Trump and this issue is not going to go away.

Once starting 'Red Notice' - was afraid to pick it up again because I couldn't put it down. Your writing talents rank up there with investor & activist. MOST importantly for me, Sergei Magnitsky is now much more than a just a name behind important legislation.

After Trump administration defied a bipartisan call from Congress on applying Magnitsky sanctions to Mohammed Bin Salman, they are now 8 weeks late on delivering their Russia/Magnitsky sanctions designation list which was due in mid December 2018.

Great news. Hakeem al-Araibi, the Bahraini football player who challenged the Bahrain regime will not be handed over by Thailand to Bahrain on a politically motivated Interpol Red Notice. He should have never been arrested in the first place. Shame on everyone involved

Just after Google agrees to a major Russian censorship deal to operate in Russia, Reddit takes $210m from China’s Tencent. The ability to challenge dictators on the Internet is being challenged from all sides

Google, the company who’s motto is “don’t be evil” does a deal with Russian government to ban websites that Putin doesn’t like, including anti corruption exposes, from its searches. That seems pretty evil to me.

Great to see more governments around the world agreeing that human rights advocacy doesn’t need to be toothless. The Magnitsky Act provides a powerful accountability tool, thanks to dogged perseverance from one

Very worrying development. Trump administration defies bipartisan call of congress to provide response to official congressional request for implementation of the Global Magnitsky Act on Mohammed Bin Salman over the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

Global Magnitsky Act - a great instrument in foreign policy towards more (international) accountability and less impunity. If used systematically a potentially great deterrent against human rights violations. We need this in the EU asap.
