Ah here’s a new one, from our crumbling courts. Custody staff couldn’t bring defendant up from the cells because lights in the passage to court weren’t working. Defendants in the darkness. Boo!

Quite. I would usually seek a trial of issue when prosecuting these cases. I can only assume there was a compelling reason for the Crown to accept the basis of plea.
