    While this might be true, this policy is stupid and unhelpful. Detaining activists & journalists, questioning them & sometimes deporting them doesn't help Israel. It provides them with more material and reasons to attack the country. Israel is shooting itself in the foot.

    What has changed is that the hysteria being spread by Netanyahu, Erdan and other ministers, has filtered down to the frontline agents, who seem to be more likely to detain arrivals. And those who were detained more prepared to speak out than in the past.
