    I may have misunderstood this new fangled “cloud” thing, but if you are “sshing into a docker container to fix things”, aren’t you doing it wrong?

    I disagree that it's a good thing on its own. Where is the money for more paid maintainers? Oops. It's not there. A on open source projects that don't get any funding for additional maintainers is likely to decimate the volunteer maintainer labor pipeline of the future

    It's good to see that EU is starting a public bug bounty program on Free Software projects, such as VLC, 7-zip, Putty, Tomcat, glibc, KeePass, Notepad++ and Drupal. Great, practical move that will make a difference. //via .

    Aha, it's only in manifest version 2, which looks a lot more like OCI. But the next question then, is where I can download the configuration. I have a digest, but the config does not appear to be under .../blobs/ ...

    Where is the entrypoint etc. stored in the docker registry v2 format? I see manifest and layers, but where is the config?

    Not keeping packages up to date is asking for trouble. Yes, there may be breaking changes but do you really want to deal with those under the distress of a security vulnerability?

    Of course even if deprecated, someone could come up with a typo-squatted version, or create a new alternative, that then later becomes malicious.

    I'm perfectly fine with someone no longer wanting to maintain a module. But then they should deprecate it. If someone really really needs it, then they can create their own (fork it on github, and work on it).
