    President Abbas’ remarks yesterday in Ramallah at the opening of the Palestinian National Congress must be unconditionally condemned by all. They are very unfortunate, very distressing & terribly disheartening. Peace cannot be built on this kind of foundation.

    أهالي غزة الذين التقيتُ بهم مبهرون للغاية - فهم مفعمون بالنشاط وقادرون على التغلب على العديد من التحديات. أهالي غزة يتمتعون بالكثير من الإمكانات، لكنهم يحتاجون لأن يكونوا قادرين على تصور مستقبل يمكنهم استغلاله والاستفادة منه. حماس تخمد أي أمل في مثل هذا المستقبل.

    The Gazans I’ve met are very impressive – driven, smart, and able to overcome so many challenges. Gazans have so much potential, but they need to be able to envision a future where they can use it. Hamas smothers any hope for such a future.
