    This is hard to believe. On Hackett Blvd!? The flooding has been insane this summer, I know homes that have been flooded during heavy rains 5+ times this season alone! Albany really needs to deal with this!

    and the elbow patches on his tweed jacket! I don't know why that's my most vivid image of Meir Rhodes, but it is. Perhaps it symbolized his style, his uniqueness, his difference, his way of standing out among all the Chassidim, his rugged durability, his resilience & grittiness.

    A memory tinged w/regret but lesson learned. Our Yeshiva backed up diagonally to PS 221 Meir taught at. Our class did some mischief. Meir bounded up all the steps of our school to teach us a lesson: dignify your faith by respecting all others - even/esp if they are different.

    I remember (back from the Frankel Shul days) how much Meir Rhodes appreciated the elder Chassid Reb Mottel Schusterman, a printer by trade, a very decent upright man, the 's reader, and a friendly accessible scholar. In some strange way they shared a lot in common.

    Finally had a chance to read this Intl. Brought tears to my eyes. I remember Meir from my childhood: a hearty, rugged, earthy, honest and earnest Chassid. I can just seeing him saying that descriptive untranslatable expression "Emes" about some of the older Chassidim.
