    If this person was sitting in the pub mumbling what they're posting, nobody would be engaging them in the level of discussion that is taking place in that thread. At what point is it bullying to critique someone whose views are opposed to one's own but who lacks mental capacity?

    What is the appropriate reaction when someone who is arguing very badly for a political point that you disagree with also appears to have an intellectual disability? I'm just seeing someone getting taken apart and it seems clear (as far as it ever can be) that this is the case.

    Spearman's attenuation formula says with r=.64 but reliability of .75 for each var, the true correlation is (.64/.75)=.80. How to answer s/one who argues "Yes, we got a very low r but used crappy measures, so that proves the true correlation is ~.90?" (Is this a stupid question?)

    I want to cite this paper and mention the subfield to which it corresponds. Can I say "in areas such as X, Y, Z, and mental retardation (Dykens, 2006)"? It just sounds awful, but maybe it's the correct psychological term.

    One for (give or take the typo of 1500g for 1500mg!)

    Both of these things can be true: 1) People who consume a ton of salt may see a benefit from consuming less. 2) There's little evidence that consuming no more than 1500g of salt a day provides a benefit. Evidence supporting (1) doesn't refute (2).

    Installing a new Win10 PC. packages go into a per-user folder🙁.libPaths() lists 2 folders, the per-user one and another under /R/R-3.5.1. On my older PC, there is only 1 folder, under /R/R3.5.1, which is what I want. How to set up new install without a per-user folder?

    I'm not sure if Plan S as it stands is the solution, but otherwise this is spot on. It's very easy to spend other people's money, which is what the last few k$ at the end of your project's grant is. Cf office supply catalogues that give non-office-related gifts with large orders.

    Worth repeating: Publishers do not charge real costs. The sell prestige and get you to pay as much as you can to further your short-term career interests. You are not strong enough to resist this. That is why the people who actually pay these costs deserve PlanS.

    Anyone know about Windows 10 peer-to-peer networking? Laptop A (Win10 Home), Laptop B (Win10 Pro). A shows A and B under "Network" and I can connect to B and push files there. B doesn't show A or B under Network. Presumably it's some firewall or other sharing setting.
