    Another reminder: UK is the only state in Europe without a time limit on immigration detention. Most other states have a few months maximum. We are a total outlier and it creates inertia across the removal system - believe me, I have seen it first hand over many years

    Annual Report of the Independent Monitoring Board at Yarl’s Wood immigration detention centre: "We are again disappointed that that the Minister rejects our recommendation of a maximum time-limit for detention. Periods of indeterminate detention are harmful to detainees’ health".

    Glad to see that Lord McColl's Modern Slavery (Victim Support) Bill, which will increase the level of support given to victims of , has now been presented in the House of Commons by . We hope that other MPs will support this important bill

    Today I presented the Modern Slavery (Victim Support) Bill to the House of Commons. The Bill, which I am championing, enshrines the rights of victims of modern slavery and offers them a year of safety in the UK so they can rebuild their lives.
