Google Fit version 1.70 is rolling out now through the Play Store and it contains a few significant additions.

Due to their smaller displays, smartwatches are not the best devices to look at for lots of information. Although it may be easier to just take out your phone to view your recent activities, if you want to quickly glance at your recent activities, a smartwatch might be your best option. In Google Fit version 1.70, you can now view a lite version of your recent activities in the new "Workout History" screen. The "Workout History" option is the last item at the bottom of Google Fit's main screen.

Google Fit version 1.70 also changes the way you log these workouts. Prior to this update, the top of the screen was filled the primary workout metrics, with a screen of actions just below. With the new version of Google Fit, the clock and pause button are pulled to the top and the metrics are pushed towards the bottom of the screen.

The Moto 360 was one of the first smartwatches to offer continuous, automatic heart rate tracking, but other manufacturers have avoided this feature in order to preserve battery life. With the latest Google Fit update, the feature will be making a comeback. Google's changelog says that the feature will only work on the LG Watch Sport and the Huawei Watch 2, but more devices will be added at a later time. There's also one problem with the implementation of the feature— there is no way to turn it off. Hopefully, the option is added in the future for those that want to preserve as much battery life as they can.

Google Fit can already provide you with spoken announcements on your smartphone, but with version 1.70, you can now get the same feature on your smartwatch, just as long as it has a speaker. You'll be able to go to the Settings screen for Google Fit to configure the intervals or turn the feature off completely if it's not your thing. Finally, Google has added a second app shortcut called "Log your weight" that will directly lead you to the weight logging screen in Fit.

Automatically track your strength training exercises on Android Wear smartwatch.

The new version of Google Fit expands the tracking capabilities significantly with a new Strength Training tool that greatly increases the range of activities that can be measured. Google Fit will analyze motion of the watch to determine what you're doing and how many reps you've completed.

Google Fit has been updated to v1.57. Here's the official changelog:

•More goal options and support for multiple goals. Set daily, weekly and monthly goals and goals for specific activities like "run three times a week".
•A new look that shows all of your daily stats at once.
•See how your weight is trending after logging a new measurement.
•See how your activity compares against other Fit users in your area.
•Bug fixes

In addition, a teardown conducted by Android Police reveals that Google plans on adding group challenges to Fit. With this feature, users would be able to create a challenge and send out an invite to participants in their contact lists or they can send invites out by manually entering phone numbers and email addresses. Furthermore, Google Fit will soon have options to quickly change incorrectly detected exercises. Finally, the teardown reveals that users will soon be able to set a target weight they want to reach.

I had some issues with Google Fit so I cleared the app's data but now I'm stuck at this screen (during onboarding). Anyone know of a solution?

And no, clearing app data is not it. Not only did it cause the issue, I did try clearing it again already.
