Message From Boston University And WBUR

Yesterday, Boston University and WBUR received some allegations against Tom Ashbrook. Tom will be on leave from his duties at WBUR while an outside organization hired by Boston University examines these allegations. We will decide a course of action after getting the results of this investigation.

WBUR And Reddit Partner To Launch New Podcast

WBUR and Reddit, “the front page of the internet,” announced today a partnership to launch Endless Thread, a weekly podcast that will debut in January. Hosted by WBUR’s Ben Brock Johnson (former host of Marketplace Tech and the Codebreaker podcast) and produced by Amory Sivertson (Modern Love: The Podcast and Dear Sugars), Endless Thread will give a highly produced audio treatment to some of the best stories uncovered among Reddit's massive ecosystem of more than 135,000 online communities and 330 million monthly users. Johnson will bring listeners on an unexpected journey, telling redditors’ fascinating stories with a thematic weekly approach.

Zola, the wedding company reinventing the wedding planning and registry experience, is hitting the road on a “Love Stories Tour” to collect everyday love stories in partnership with Modern Love, the podcast based on the New York Times’ popular series of weekly reader-submitted essays that explore the joys and tribulations of love. The Tour kicks off on Saturday, November 11th, just in time for engagement season. 40% of couples get engaged and start their wedding registry between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day.

WBUR Installs New Antenna Expanding Reach To 400,000 Additional Listeners

WBUR has installed a new antenna, expanding its radio reach by 400,000 listeners across eastern and central Massachusetts. The station with Boston’s largest radio newsroom increased the height of its antenna by 175 feet – the equivalent of almost 16 stories – by relocating its primary 90.9 FM antenna from a tower in Newton, Massachusetts to a taller tower in the neighboring town of Needham.

WBUR is pleased to announce that The Academy of New England Journalists is presenting host Robin Young with this year’s Yankee Quill Award, which recognizes journalists for their exceptional contributions to their communities and the industry.

Robin is recognized for her work on WBUR & NPR’s “Here and Now” which is carried by nearly 500 NPR stations coast-to-coast, and as a major contributor to the advancement of both television and radio journalism since the 1970s, when she hosted one of TV’s first news magazines on WBZ-TV in Boston.
