I never said YOU were playing the victim card, I'm saying this theory of the Justice League trailer situation comes from that place of people that would rather first assume that every time something DC gets removed, it's because we have an agenda against DC before thinking that the content might have broken rules, or it was a simple mistake from our part.

I also wasn't playing victim myself, I'm just telling you like it is, in a sub as large and active as this one, mistakes will occur. I already told you I wasn't there during the JL trailer fiasco (and frankly, never cared enough to ask), so I gave you an example of what might have happened based on previous experiences (it briefly happened with the Homecoming trailer, too much for being Marvel shills), LiteraryBoner gave you the actual reason.

If you bothered to look things up, you'd realize that the removal of useless comic book movie info comes directly form user feedback, not something "the mods approve of". Plenty of people (myself included) stopped visiting major movie news websites once this comic book and Star Wars wave became really popular, and every other submission was something incredibly minor about a comic book film. We adhere to standards of only allowing major announcements for comic books and Star Wars, both mods and users want things to be varied and not just another den for these "geek" oriented franchises, not that there's something inherently bad with that, but that's what places like /r/StarWars, /r/DC_Cinematic, and /r/marvelstudios are there for.

As far as this Justice League thing goes, I wasn't there to experience it myself so I don't know if this is true or if it's exaggeration trying to play victim of the Marvel shill mods, but if it did happen, I can assure you it wasn't intentional. You don't know how it's like to moderate a subreddit of over 16 million people once a major trailer drops; we get dozens and dozens and dozens of submissions within a minute. When this happens, we have to clean things up, and when things are moving so fast, sometimes there's confusion and certain threads that shouldn't be removed get removed by accident, but we always put them back once we notice or once our users let us know. If you already have this mentality about the mods having a personal agenda against DC then you might not believe this next statement, but I can assure you 100% that none of the mods care enough about either DC or Marvel to dwell into petty fanaticism.

Only certain posts gain popularity because they're set up to be that way from seemingly paid upvotes, paid-for comments and apparent shills.

Please provide proof of this so we can deal with it, otherwise don't make these accusations of things you know nothing about.

You can always submit posts seeking for discussion, we encourage you to do that. Be the change you want in the world, instead of posting yet another rant, start a thread promoting discussion of film.

Hey David! Being my favorite show of all time, I was wondering if you could talk about your experience working with Bryan Fuller in Pushing Daisies. Also, were you told anything about Randy's planned arc for season 3 before the show got cancelled?

Lol, he even has me blocked because he thinks I'm a Marvel shill. I can't do it because he won't see it, but ask him to post the screencaps to our conversation, it's pretty funny.

Hey Casper! I watched Star Raiders: The Adventures of Saber Raine with my friend /u/GetFreeCash the other day, and I was wondering what sci-fi characters inspired your character/performance?

Is it possible for the automod to filter all comments that link to videos from a specific YouTube channel? by allwinter in AutoModerator

[–]allwinter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We considered this, we even have that for submissions, but r/movies being a default with over 16 million users, it would definitely mean constant modmailing asking for comment approvals.

We also tried setting up the automod to remove comments from users with low karma, since our users are pretty quick to downvote these guys, but they still get through every time.

Is it possible for the automod to filter all comments that link to videos from a specific YouTube channel? by allwinter in AutoModerator

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the way this person/channel operates, makes it pretty useless for us to botban him. He makes multiple accounts at once and releases his spam links in batches every time there's a new video, with new accounts every time. Like I said, he makes accounts quicker than we can ban them.

I'll definitely look into using a bot though, thanks!

Happy Birthday to the brilliant Christopher Nolan! by OwnTheKnight in movies

[–]allwinter 168 points169 points  (0 children)

One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the Dunkirk beach with my Nolan. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from his kino. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Nolan.

After the last scene of his kino flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of his kino, especially at the very lowest rotten tomatoes and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked Nolan about it. "Nolan, you said once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the quippiest and most troublesome times of TDKR, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was was because this is Memento and the footprints are happening in reverse."

Official Discussion: Dunkirk [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]allwinter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a well documented fact that due to projection issues, many screenings of Dunkirk skipped a crucial scene, in which Alex recalls those nostalgic memories of a less troubled youth in heavenly French beaches, where he meets a tall dark stranger, a filmmaker or so he claims.

"What are you doing?" Alex asks, "Making a movie I guess, but I don't know if it's any good." answers the enigmatic auteur. Alex, in an effort to make the human connection he desperately craved for, insists on watching this film, the man agrees. Alex's eyes widen like Moses parting the sea, as the images of a big masked man having a duel of wits with a member of the Central Intelligence Agency inside of an airplane; he has never experienced the euphoric rush of melodic art as he has just now.

Alex, rendered almost speechless by what he has just witnessed, manages to stutter, not the words that he intended, for these were much more grandiose, but the ones he managed to say due to his shock: "I feel like my mind has been penetrated". The mysterious man brushes his hair and lowers his face, trying, but failing to hide the sudden blush on his cheeks. "I don't think it's that good", the man says. "You're insecure, don't know what for" Alex responds, slowly collecting himself.

They lock eyes, as Alex softly brushes the man's cheek (as pictured in the thread's thumbnail). "My name is Christopher, by the way." Before Alex is able to find the words to respond, he is tragically taken back by the thoughts of his imminent future, a future where he has to fight a senseless war in the beaches of Dunkirk, all the upcoming pain, suffering, blood and lead that he will witness. Alex holds back a tear as he turns around, silently parting ways with Christopher as he accepts his cruel fate. Disheartened, Christopher bravely screams in agony "Did I do something wrong?". Alex stops in his tracks, takes one last look at the sapphire water and the starry heavens, as he contemplates the beauty of this world, and how he must protect it, no matter the bloodshed and torment of the thunderous war. "You don't know you're beautiful", says Alex mustering his last words, which he whispers to the faithful wind; "that's what makes you beautiful."

Embrace of the Serpent. Might be more on the artsy side, but I think it fits your description quite well. It alternates between a German explorer trying to find a rare plant in the Amazon with the help of an isolated aboriginal, and an American scientist trying to recreate the German's steps with the help of his diary and the now old aboriginal. They run into some weird and crazy shit, you should check it out.

Juan Carlos Osorio, Mexico's Coach, suspended for six matches by Facso in soccer

[–]allwinter 39 points40 points  (0 children)

He was during his first year, but his sacking came after a very bizarre Gold Cup, where Mexico were champions by playing some absolutely terrible and dirty football, and winning with the massive help of the referees (that game against Panama was such a robbery and it made Mexico so unlikeable, that I remember my whole 100% Mexican family rooting for Panama by the end of the game). A lot of people were also concerned that Piojo's fame had gotten to his head because he was doing commercial after commercial, and tweeting his support for a certain political party the day of the election (which is against the law). I think hitting Martinolli was the just last drop.

The thing Osorio had going on for him, terrible football aside, was that he had been able to keep a low profile and seemingly remained cool and level headed, but I think he showed his true colors during the Confederations Cup. I doubt he will get sacked, though, and if he does, get ready for Vasco Aguirre to start Conejo in Russia.
