How many metric tons of fluorinated gases would it take to cause enough of a greenhouse effect on Mars to melt the Martian polar ice caps? by SamsTestingAlt in space

Like I said before, that took millions of years to happen. Humanity has lots of time to fix this problem, so there is no reason not to get started on a project that will work for a few thousand years at least.

To believe that, you cannot be reading the global warming literature. It's part of the anthropogenic global warming argument to examine the past 10,000 years in order to provide perspective on the present.

Climatologists use millions of years of data. The point I am making is that the gradual destruction Mars' atmosphere doesn't matter if it's slow enough. All of recorded history is only about 5000 years.

Yes to the first, no to the second. The sun's temperature is gradually increasing on a large time scale.

The sun's temperature isn't going to significantly increase or decrease in the next 10,000 years, and temperature is not what I was talking about. The sun used to have more activity that stripped Mars of its atmosphere.

Earlier in its lifetime, the sun was more active than it is today, so sputtering was probably a more important process for removing the atmosphere, Curry said. Understanding that process will help scientists figure out what they see on other worlds.

Nobody uses planetary timescales unless they're doing geology. 10,000 years is not short term for terraforming.

It took millions of years for Mars to be stripped of its atmosphere by the sun, and the Sun was much more violent back then.

It's a damn good time to be Canadian. Enjoy dying of thirst you southern faggots. I can't wait for the Canadian Empire to conquer the Americas, and then the world.

Yes, we're not capitalists, we're anarcho-capitalists. Just like social-democrats are not socialists.
