    It’s interesting that we’re often conditioned to not brag (celebrate the hard-earned wins) AND to not complain (be transparent about how hard it can be to win.) But being mediocre in the middle is all we’d be left with otherwise.

    In 2018: I finished writing my memoir. I spent 40 days on the road with my best friend . I think I did a damn great job cohosting a cute live morning show called . happened. And I moved into my dream apartment. Yay!

    Whew! Decades of being called “sometime-y,” accused of thinking myself “too good” for someone, etc. when most of the time I was socially overwhelmed and needed peace.

    Introversion in women, esp. women of color, often gets interpreted as snobbiness or standoffishness, because we’re expected to be always open and accessible. So when we exercise our autonomy and choose to not engage or be everyone’s BFF, it unnerves people and they turn hostile.
