    Agree with much of this op/ed, but let's not repeat the biggest lie of open data: it is not "neglected gold" just waiting to be turned into apps by benevolent developers. It requires care and feeding. Care in its collection and maintenance, and resources to make it useful.

    Who should hold the keys to our data? - "There is no contradiction between the desire to live in a society that is open and secure and the desire to protect privacy. Open and private apply to different content, handled in appropriately different ways."

    Good article. Much of it applies also to senior execs who never unplug, or can't.

    A process that could have led the world to reflect today's creator and user needs has been corrupted by ancient empires and industry interests. So disappointing.

    Tomorrow EU member states plan to finalise their position on EU © reform proposal. Its a terrible compromise that will do very little to make EU © law fit for the future. Together with 144 other orgs we are asking them to stop & reconsider:
