    On Sat, Carlene Akins, 44, fulfilled her decades-long dream of earning a mass communications degree. In May, she will begin a 6-month internship in Tokyo. “I think if you want to achieve that goal, that you should do it, no matter what stands in your way.”

    Don’t forget to arrive early to graduation on Saturday. Doors open at 8am and grads need to be in Derek Fisher Court by 8:30am.

    Here is a map showing available guest parking for commencement. Doors open to the Jack Stephens Center at 8am! Early arrival is STRONGLY encouraged. 🚗 🚙 You are able to enter campus from both University and Fair Park.

    An internship in China changed Jessica Tate’s future goals. She graduates Saturday & then heads to Baltimore to begin a 4-year teacher residency position in Baltimore w/ the Urban Teachers Program; will earn a master’s from John Hopkins. Congrats Jessica!

    It's not easy being a single dad, working, & taking classes. The hard work will pay off for Anthony Alexander though. 48 hours after graduating on Saturday, he will begin his dream job as the dean of students at eStem Elementary School. Congrats, Anthony!

    It took her 20 years to get her master’s. But she never gave up.

    Students like Edna Rodgers inspire us. She started her master's in '99. It's taken her 20 years, but she'll graduate Saturday. "I was determined to finish what I had started because I just wouldn’t feel good about myself if I hadn’t.” proud of you!
