    A picture of David Wilken a South African Jewish solider who joined the medical corps after completing a pharmacy degree. While on a victory parade through Rome he saw a Nazi flag on a building. He was so offended that he stopped his vehicle and climbed the building to remove it

    The photo forms a part of a large collection of photographs, documents, publications and documentation related to child survivor, Irene Groll's experience during the Holocaust, her efforts to claim for reparation from the late 1940s to the 1950s as well as her life afterwards

    A photo of Irene Groll at age 12 in France. Irene was reunited with her maternal grandparents in France after the end of the war. They later emigrated to Cape Town in 1946. Unfortunately, her parents Elisabeth and Adolf Kayem were deported to Aushwitz where they perished.
