During a quick two-game series against the Houston Astros at SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves got dismantled by a combined score of 26-8. If that wasn’t bad enough, a female fan was watching that game on her local TV station when something disturbing caught her eye. In the crowd were three letters, ‘KKK.’ She immediately got furious as she believed that this was blatant racism right in front of her face.

Gabi Garcia’s stretch of two fights in Japan over a 23-day stretch did not get off to a very promising start. Garcia, who’s 4-0 in MMA, fought at the 2017 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup event at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo. Garcia faced 20-year MMA veteran and pro wrestling-crossover, Megumi Yabushita, who’s 19-23 in MMA, a heavyweight bout under Shoot Boxing rules, and the result wasn’t too pretty.

In five games with Luoyang in the second-tier National Basketball League, the 6-foot Russ Smith is averaging 61 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 3.6 assists. His lowest scoring total in a game so far is 42 points. In his most recent game, Smith took things to a new level, pouring in 81 points on a quite efficient 25-of-43 shooting that included 10 3-pointers.

American player Bethanie Mattek-Sands, the Doubles World No. 1, had to be carried off the court on a stretcher with a right knee injury. Mattek-Sands injured the knee after she planted her right leg awkwardly while squaring up for a return volley. She has had multiple knee surgeries in the past, and multiple trainers were on the scene to help her.

On August 26th, Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be making his return to boxing after a two-year retirement. At 40 years of age, he will be aiming to improve to a 50-0 record when he meets Conor McGregor, who is 11 years younger, and in the prime of his career. Mayweather had already done enough to solidify himself as “The Best Ever”, the greatest boxer of his era, at the very least. But according to his father and long-time mentor Floyd Sr., fans will still get to see something new from the former pound-for-pound king of boxing.

If you’re not up to speed with what’s been going down in the Milwaukee’s front office, here it goes. The Bucks' three controlling owners were split on hiring either Justin Zanik or Jon Horst as general manager. While two of the owners wanted Zanik, Wes Edens wasn't sold, which resulted in Milwaukee's choice of Horst. The Greek Freak could eventually leave the team that drafted him similarly to how Gordon Hayward walked away from the Utah Jazz in favor of a deal with the Boston Celtics. He is currently locked up for three more seasons after signing a four-year, $100 million extension last year.

After the second eyebrow-raising performance of his young NBA career, Boston Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum was being quizzed on his beyond-his-years post game when a reporter wondered if there were shades of Kobe Bryant in his play. His answer? "Yeah, that's my favorite player," and then Tatum caught himself.

Ben Simmons took notice of the Boston Celtics recent free agent signing of Gordon Hayward. Working out on the 4th of July, the Philadelphia 76ers rookie decided to test his range while shooting around. And um.. it's pretty good.
