What is a fan edit?
Fan edits are visual projects made by fans of any particular TV show or movie. Faneditors recut and resequence visuals and modify audio including adding different musical tracks or effects.
r/fanedits exists as a sub for the faneditors to learn about different projects and concepts as they're introduced within fair use boundaries.

Some of you know that /r/fanedits was hit with some tough news that the creator of the sub had decided to close it down over some petty notion he owned this place. Well I am here to tell you that he does not own /r/fanedits. YOU DO.
This is now YOUR sub. The community here is and has always thrived with the inspiration of faneditors and fanedit enthusiasts like YOU!
The old rules are OUT. No more takedowns of fanedit links unless they directly violate Reddit's rules... and because most links to fanedits appear to be fair-use in a copyright sense, we will no longer rigidly enforce the takedown of anything on this sub. Reddit will takedown posts automatically if they violate copyright rules to the extent they always have done so.
