Conrad Lewis, Seni's father, on why he supports Seni's Law to end abusive restraint: "I carry a burden for the rest of my life that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I want no other parent to bear that burden"

Listening to Tory MP, Philip Davies, speaking for well over 2 hours on Bill to reduce use of force in mental health units. Risk that we will run out of time to make vital progress on this important Bill. So frustrating. No one else has been able to speak

I am in Parliament to support excellent Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Bill which is really needed. However my neighbour Phillip Davies is filibustering (again) and has managed to make ten minutes worth of points in 2 hours. Friday speeches really need time limit

They claimed there's no evidence of racial bias then tried to take out measures in the bill that show there is. Thankfully we got thru report stage and will be back for 3rd reading on 6 July

It's a shame that passed report stage but not yet third reading. We hope when debate resumes on July 6th, it passes and goes to - meaning we'd be one step closer to making this important bill a law

With Seni's parents Aji and Conrad Lewis after Seni's Law successfully passed report stage in the Commons - despite a Tory MP attempting to talk it out. The new law protects mental health patients from abusive restraint

Use of force & excessive restraint is a partic problem in relation to those with mental health issues and black ppl. This law is hugely important & designed to protect vulnerable ppl like Olaseni Lewis who sadly died from uncontrolled police restraint.
