Yesterday we broke ground on 1990 Folsom in the Mission, which will not only create 143 permanently affordable family homes, but also provide space for nonprofits, arts organizations, and on-site childcare. When we invest in affordable housing, we all benefit!

For too long, we have not built enough affordable housing, and thousands of units are ready to be built but don’t have the funding. Excited to join Board President to introduce a $500 million affordable housing bond to get these units built and get people housed.

Today we celebrated the official opening of the Downtown Streets Team in the Mission, which I pushed for in our budget. These residents, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, help clean our streets while receiving a stipend, and case management and employment services.
