People move, they move down the road, they move across town, sometimes they move across borders. Using the language of 'driving down immigration' is so inflammatory says ; agrees, saying it implies immigration is 'a cancer' which she says is shameful

They are trying to bring forward a bill which ends free movement without fixing the problems at the Home Office which cause massive amounts of suffering to so many people which we read about every day

This white paper is a classic case of Govt failing to fix a problem, in this case failing to deliver a Brexit that pleases anyone, and so using the tactic of pointing the finger of blame at immigrants on

The proposals on immigration contained in the white paper will work for no one apart from the politicians who are peddling them on .

In fact, the Home Office is fighting JCWI at the High Court right now, spending ££ to avoid reviewing Right to Rent despite much evidence that it causes discrimination & Chief Insp of Borders & Immigration recommending a review. Demonstrably NOT learning the lessons of Windrush

The economic assessment of the immigration white paper basically says the effects of the changes will do long-term damage to the economy and/or they have no idea what the impact will be.

So we fight to stop the eradication of free movement now. And if we fail, we fight to bring it back in future. And then, in the long term, there is the struggle to establish across the world. Small minds never win.

Here's something fun: we're going to have a Dragon's Den visa route. Seriously. They're calling it a "Start-up visa" but given you have to pitch your business idea to some kind of expert panel in order to get a visa I reckon is a far more appropriate moniker.

Picking apart today's white paper on immigration -it looks a lot like making an already dysfunctional system even worse

It's also insulting our intelligence to suggest that this Home Office, the same one that has displayed incompetence in the roll-out of pretty much every new system it has introduced, let alone old systems such as that for Windrush folks, will implement a "streamlined" system 🙄

Low wages have nothing to do with migration and everything to do with lack of protection in the labour market - on

I don't think it's mutually exclusive to say people should be paid a decent wage for the jobs they do and to say let's treat people who come here fairly and not scapegoat them for political expediency says

While we wait for an immigration white paper that's going to be a disaster for the country - remember that is in court today challenging the Home Office on the disastrous immigration system we already have.
