Barnier again asks "what is it for?" when talking about a delay to Brexit. "An extension does have consequences. A longer extension needs to be linked to something new, a new event. A new political process."

"We take swift action when complaints are made to CCHQ, immediately referring them for investigation. That was the case in November 2018, and continues to be the case today," Mr Lewis writes. CCHQ is Conservative Campaign Headquarters.

In a letter to Nick Lowles, the Chief Executive of the group, Brandon Lewis said "Anti-Muslim discrimination undermines society from within and there is absolutely no place for it in this country or in the Conservative Party."
