I went looking for a standard way for a web application to communicate its preferred (virtual) hostname and port to its web or application server.

That doesn't seem to exist, at least not for nginx. I am now going down the rabbit hole of looking at PAAS implementations, all of which are likely to be overkill for managing a simple VPS :/.

Models in wald:meta are now saved to a json file from which both server-side and client-side model classes can be generated. Soon I will write the knockout.js bits to edit an entity.

I'm finally spending some time with Haskell again. Hopefully porting an existing command-line tool (written in python) is a more suitable goal for my Haskell skill-level than writing something completely new.

BTW, I think ∃ huge moral distinction btw: (a) using proprietary sw,(b) distributing it, & (c) writing it. Scale is orders of magnitude IMO.
