    Trains are crowded, not running frequently enough, and on-time performance/wait assessment #'s are awful. Subway service is bad right now.

    It cost money to fix things like tunnels and signal systems, but it takes organizational focus on actually running good service to do so.

    The 1970s and 1980s disagrees, but the subway system certainly feels like it hasn't been worse in the past decade or so than it is now.
